Hayden Real Estate

Situated in Kootenai County, Hayden is in north Idaho and is a suburb of the popular Coeur d’Alene and has a population of roughly 15,000 residents. The story of how it received its name was a popular tale. The village of Hayden had gotten its name from Matthew Hayden, a soldier from Fort Sherman who had the rights to name the lake and then the city by winning a game of “seven-up” played with two soldiers as well as other residents in the late 1800’s.

Soon after its namesake, the town eventually became known as a center for agriculture, logging, and recreation in the early 1900’s. Once the Spokane and Inland Empire Railroad had added service to Hayden then the posh Hayden Lake Country Club was erected. Years later with the introduction of cars, the town center transitioned from being focused around the lake and railroad and repositioned itself more along the Government Way.
