Coeur d’Alene Real Estate
Coeur d’Alene is the largest city in North Idaho with a population of roughly 55,000. Coeur d’Alene which is French for “heart of an awl” is also known as the “Lake City” or simply CDA being nestled along Lake Coeur d’Alene. The name stems from the Coeur d’Alene people who were a Native American tribe who had once lived along the rivers and lakes in the area.
An interesting fact of Coeur d’Alene area is that it is surrounded by dozens of lakes left behind by the glaciers from the ice age. There are over 55 lakes that are located within the region, yet arguably none are more scenic and replete with activities than Lake Coeur d’Alene. For this, tourism has flourished especially since the late 1900’s. Popular and notable attractions include the Coeur d’Alene Resort with its boardwalk downtown, golfing among its handful of courses, gambling in its casino as well as plentiful ski resorts within the area.
